Lady Macbeth

The use of the metaphor shows the reader how Lady Macbeth is manipulating Macbeth and persuading him to act against king Duncan and be innocent on the outside but betray him and kill him.

This shows how lady Macbeth wants power and is calling to the devil and the spirits of hell to help her be masculine so she has power.




-back in that century, women had no rights, men had all the power and owned the women and everything else.

King Duncan

"o valiant cousin!worthy gentlemen!"




This shows how king Duncan views Macbeth as a very honourable gentlemen that would never betray him. However Macbeth later on in the play becomes very self- absorbed in the prophecy and things begin to change.
