Totalitarianism

A form of government in which there is a sole ruler whom uses extremely violent methods in order to keep their people obedient, usually has a heavy use of the military and the citizens lack individuality and freedom in every single aspect since even the press is completely controlled by the government.



Ex. Stalin's regime over Russia.

A violent conflict in which heavy warfare is used, and there is a great number of participants conformed by mainly trained soldiers which have specific strategies and follow orders. For this conflicts there is usually a purpose or a reason, such as religion, politics, commerce, etc.



Ex. The World War I

Guerrilla

Groups of people that participate in a conflict which are between usually civilians and the government. Most of the participants are not trained soldiers, and have the purpose of improving their current lifestyle since for them their current government has failed to them. Most of the time they have an aggressive way of achieving power.



Ex. The guerrillas the people organize in the state of Michoacan and Guerrero.

Destruction or slaughter on a mass scale.



Ex. The incident of the Holocaust against Jews in WWII.

Massive intentional killing of civilians that could be considered to be helpless against the attack, the killing may not be fast since torture and mistreatment that eventually end in death do count as genocide as well.



Ex. The genocide that happened in Nigeria, having 2,000 killed.

A state of Argentinian terrorism against politics and left-wing guerrillas. There was a general state of chaos in Argentina, and there was no such thing as fair play since people would use anything and anyone to achieve their goal of winning the battles.

Form of government started by Karl Marx, supporting class war and leading to a society which supposedly would have been willing to give everything they have and share it amongst everyone. That is Marx's theory. There has been many various variations that have been put in practice like Mao's or the Soviet Union's form of communism.<------Examples.

Rivalry after World War II between the Soviet Union and its satellites and the democratic countries of the Western world, under the leadership of the United States.

A society that manages to have what could be considered a civil mindset by being respectful of the different attributes of the member of the community instead of shunning them, or harassing them.



Ex. Many of the guidelines given in the declaration of human rights is with the goal of having a civil society.

A situation in which the economy of a country experiences a sudden downturn.



Ex. The economic crisis of 2008 in which Wall Street crashed.

A welfare state is a concept of government in which the state plays a key role in the protection and promotion of the economic and social well-being of its citizens.



Ex. A welfare state would be Mexico, and the organizations in charge of the welfare are such as IMSS, DIF, etc.

Political theory in which the intervention from the government is reduced to the minimum.



Ex. There were many times in which the people tried to appy neoliberalism such as in Latin America.

A government that restricts commerce or exchange with a specified country. An embargo is usually created as a result of unfavorable political or economic circumstances between nations. The restriction looks to isolate the country and create difficulties for its governing body, forcing to act on the underlying issue.



Ex. Cuba was applied a trade embargo by the United States and has struggled ever since.

Ex. Right now Japan and Germany are presenting a great recovery of the crisis they used to have after World War II.

The result of the Post World War II japan and West Germany benefitting from the Cold War. It occurred partly due to the aid and assistance of the United States, but chiefly due to the economic interventionism of the Japanese government. *In the definition there is also an example.*
