Resentment toward another party.
Both leaders had resentment
Castro - toward Batista govt for it's corruption and ties with the US.
Hitler - toward the big 3 for the treatment of Germany in Versaille. Statistic -> Territorial adjustments meant that Germany lost 65% of their iron resources -> important for further industrialization.
Promised to solve economic problems.
Both Cuba and Germany was in economic depression, particularly Germany after reparations from Versailles.
Castro played upon Batista's weakness at solving the problems, as did Hitler with the Weimar govt.
Served Shortened Prison Terms
Both served prison terms that were shortened. This was due to public pressure on the ruling parties.
Castro served 2 years of a 15 year sentence.
Hitler served 9 months of a 10 year sentence.

Castro took over with force in the march on Havana on Jan 8 1959 with 8000 men.
Hitler took power through political manipulation. Played on Hindenburg's fear of communism to gain emergency power. Then passed the enabling act 24 March 1933. Final power gained as Fuhrer on 2 August 1934 when Hindenburg died.
Type of Government that was overthrown.
Cuba was under a dictatorship rule of Batista, however he was a puppet president of the US and Cuba was corrupt. Germany was ruled under a democracy of the Weimar, however they were focussed on their own gains rather than the country.
