Atrial Flutter |
Sawtooth waves Rhythm: regular P waves: none PRI: none |
Like a butterfly regularly skipping across |
Atrial Fibrillation |
Rhythm: Irregular Baseline: chaotic, wavy P wave: none PRI: none |
Comes w age |
Junctional rhythm |
P wave: none, inverted QRS: normal <0.12 40-60 bpm |
Junctional bradycardia |
P wave: none, inverted QRS: normal, skinny <0.12 BPM: below 40 |
Accelerated junctional rhythm |
P wave: none, inverted QRS: normal, skinny <0.12 BPM: 61-100 |
Junctional tachycardia |
P wave: none, inverted QRS: normal, skinny, <0.12 BPM: over 100 |
Ventricular rhythm |
-Produced by purkinje fibers bc SA node fails P wave: none QRS: WIDE >0.12 Inverted t if seen |
Agonal rhythm |
P wave: none QRS: wide >0.12 BPM: below 20 |
Idioventricular rhythm IVR |
P wave: none QRS: wide BPM: 20-40 |
Accelerated idioventricular rhythm |
P wave: none QRS: wide >0.12 BPM: 41-100 |
Ventricular tachycardia |
P wave: none QRS: wide >0.12 BPM: over 100 |
How to discern different ectopic rhythms |
1. Look at HR (bpm fast? Slow?) 2. Look at P wave -normal: smooth, rounded, before qrs -atrial: spiky, positive -junctional: negative -ventricular: absent 3. If p wave is absent - look at qrs -junctional: normal, skinny qrs <0.12 -ventricular: wide >0.12 |
Call Dr because ventricular tachycardia may begin |
If PVCs (premature ventricular complexes) are frequent, what should you do? |
