Noun |
It names a person, place, thing, animal or idea. Proper nouns name particular persons, places, etc., and are capitalized. |

Pronoun |
It takes place of a noun. An antecedent is the noun that the pronoun stands for. |

Adjective |
It modifies a noun or a pronoun. (Who, what, how many, what kind) |

Adverb |
It modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb. Adverbs tell how, to what extent, when, or where. |
Cinderalla quickly scrubbed the floor. The floor was very clean. Cinderalla worked really quickly. |

Preposition |
It relates a noun or pronoun (its object) to some other part of the sentence. An object may be compound. The preposition, its object, and any modifiers make up a prepositional phrase. |

Conjunction |
It connects words or word groups. the coordinating conjunctions are for, and, nor, but, or, yet. |
