Schizophreniform Disorder
2/5 criteria for Schizophrenia for 1-6 months
Schizoaffective Disorder
1. Meet criteria for major depressive episode, manic episode, mixed episode (also with criteria for schizophrenia)
2. delusions/hallucinations 2+ weeks in absence of mood disorder
3. mood symptoms for big part of psychotic illness
4. not due to general medical conditions or drugs
Brief Psychotic Disorder
2/5 criteria for schizophrenia 1 day-1 month (sometimes in response to stress)
Delusional Disorder
1. Nonbizarre delusions for >1 month
2. not meet criteria for schizophrenia
3. functioning not significantly impaired
Shared Psychotic Disorder
Pt develops the same delusional symptoms as someone he/she is in a close relationship

2/5 for >6 months OR bizarre delusions/ commentary hallucinations/more than one voice

Hypomanic episode

4. 3/7 or 4/7 symptoms if irritable
Major Depressive Disorder
1. 1+ major depressive episode
2. No hx of manic or hypomanic episode
Bereavement
-No suicidal thoughts are rare
-symptoms < 2 months
-mild cognitive disorder lasts < 1 year
Bipolar I Disorder
1. Occurrence of 1+ manic or mixed episode (no depressive episode necessary)
Bipolar II Disorder
1. Hx of 1+ major depressive episodes
2. Hx of 1+ hypomanic

NO Hx of manic episode
Dysthymic Disorder
1. Depressed mood most days 2+ years (1 in adolescents)
2. 2/6 of following
- Poor concentration/decision making
- Hopelessness
- Abnormal appetite
- Abnormal sleep
- Fatigue
- Low self-esteem
3. During the 2 years: no more than 2 months without symptoms, no manic/hypomanic/depressed symptoms
Cyclothymic Disorder
1. Hypomanic periods and depressive periods for 2+ years
2. Never symptom free for >2 months during 2 years
3. No hx of major depressive or manic episode
Minor depressive disorders
1. 2-4/9 of depressive symptoms
2. euthymic periods (unlike dysthymic disorder)
3. associated with significant functional impairment
Subtypes of MDD

Panic Attack
1. Peak within 10 minutes, last < 25 minutes

1. witnessed or experienced traumatic event that was potentially harmful or fatal

Acute Stress Disorder
1. Experience major traumatic event
2. symptoms within 1 month of trauma
3. Symptoms last < 1 year
4. Symptoms similar to PTSD
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
1. Excessive Anxiety and worry about daily events and activities for 6+ months
2. 3/6 symptoms
-restlessness
-fatigue
-difficulty concentrating
-irritability
-muscle tension
-sleep disturbance
