What are the 4 ways to become a citizen of Singapore? |
1. By descent- Requires at least one parent to be a citizen of the country. 2. By country of birth- Must be born in the country 3. By marriage- Must marry a citizen of the country 4. By naturalisation- Have immigrated to the country, lived there for a specific number of years. (Some countries require them to take test) |

What is democracy |
A system where people choose their representatives in a government. |

It is a collection of rules that determine the creation and operation of the government, it's organs and institutions. |

Why is the constitution important? |
Ensure that the rights are respected by law and by everyone in the country --> protects the well being of citizens |

What are the 4 functions of the constitution? |
1. Source of government's power- Constitution sets out the functions and powers of the various government organs such as the Legislature, Executive and Judiciary - Power separated between various government organs and prevents concentration of power of a selected group. 3. Guards the basic rights of individuals- E.g. Freedom of speech in Article 14, freedom of religion in article 15. 2.
