Unconditional Election

What is Covenant Theology?
The understanding that God relates to mankind through covenants.
God chose to use that covenants (in all ages) to show how He relates to His people. Unlike human covenants, God’s covenants are based on grace.

Ex 19:5–6
Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”
Why is Covenant Theology Important?
Maintains Continuity of: Covenant of Grace, People of God, Signs, Households

1) Covenant of Grace – one and the same way of salvation in both Testaments, despite different outward requirements – Rom 4:16-19
2) People of God – one continuous people of God (the church) in both Testaments – Rom 4:16-19
3) Covenant Signs – Baptism is the sign of the covenant in the New Testament, just as circumcision was the sign of the covenant in the Old Testament - Col 2:11
4) Households – Whole households are included in God’s redemptive covenant – Acts 16:31.
What is biblical theology and how does it relate to systematic theology?
Biblical theology focus on progressive redemptive history of entire scripture, uses language "biblically" not systematically.
