THE BLACKFOOT INDIAN PROJECT

The tribe Blackfoot is also known as “Siksika”. They were fierce, warlike and part of a Native American Indian nation. These names are famous chief names:

Morning Owl, Red Crow, Yellow Horse, Red Plume Two chief names that are really famous are Crows Foot and Running Rabbit.

CLOTHING
They wore robes, dresses, skirts, and shirts. That were made out of antelope and buffalo. Women wore finger- like dresses, and men wore buckskin shirts and leggings. They all wore moccasins.
LODGING
The Blackfoot lived in buffalo-hide houses called teepees. They followed the herd so teepees made it easy for the whole Blackfoot village to be packed up in an hour. Teepees are made out of very long sticks, leather and squall. Today, Native Americans only put up a tepee for fun or to connect with their heritage.
FOOD
The Blackfoot loved buffalo. They had to use every part of the buffalo when they hunted. The Blackfoot Indians used the meat, hide, horn and tail. Buffalo meat was boiled, roasted, or dried. Dried meat was kept in pouches. They also hunted deer and elk.
