What is memory?

A smaller stick that stores data.

What is the difference between memory and hard drive storage?

Data is stored permanently on the hard drive and can only be used when moving to RAM,

What is ROM?

It can't be changed or erased, can be programmable in PROM, and can be erased in EPROM.

What is SRAM?

Static RAM. It has very fast memory and is specialized. It is very expensive and pretty large. No refreshing , but still volatile. It's used in processor caches.

What is DRAM?

Dynamic Random Access Memory, needs constant refreshing. Most commonly used in our computers.

What is SDRAM?

It's not static RAM, it stands for Synchronous DRAM. It's synchronous with the common system clock, and it's not seen on many of our computers.

What is RDRAM?

Rambus DRAM, a new type of memory that can go much faster created by Rambus and Intel. It's more expensive than traditional memory.

What is DDR SDRAM?

Double Data Rate SDRAM. It has twice the data rate as ordinary SDRAM.

What is DDR2 SDRAM?

DDR SDRAM's next generation, twice as fast, with enhanced electrical interace, buffers, and off-chip drivers.

What is DDR3 SDRAM?

Twice the data of DDR2, larger chip capacities.
