1. Scrub brush

2. Trash can

3. Boots

4. Chemical and oil protective gloves

5. Chemical gloves

6. Toxicological gloves

7. Bath towel

What does CMWD stand for?

Countermeasure wash down

What is countermeasure wash down?

CMWD is a system of fireman sprinklers on the weatherdeck to prevent agents from adhering to the ship

What is HTH

High test Hypochlorite

What is RSDL

Reactive skin decontamination lotion

What is SDK

Skin decontamination kit

What does MOPP stand for?

Mission oriented protective posture

How many MOPP levels are there?

Five

What is MOPP level 0?

Inventory CBR equipment, decontamination kits and decontamination stations

What is MOPP 1?

Suspected threat. Sizing and issuing of CPE and gas masks

What is MOPP 2?

Possible threat. Protective mask is in carrier and worn on person. Operational test of CMWD and all alarms. Prepare decontamination stations

What is MOPP 3?

Probable threat. General quarters. Post and monitor detection equipment. Activate CMWD intermittently to keep decks wet. Don JSLIST and boots for external monitors

What is MOPP 4

How many sheets is M8 Paper?

25 sheets split into 50

What does M8 paper test for?

Detects the presence of V agents, G agents (nerve) and H agents(blister/mustard)

What color do V agents turn on M8 paper?

Green

What color do G agents turn on M8 paper?

Yellow

What color do H agents turn on M8 paper?

Red

What is M9 paper issued as?

30 ft long 2 inch wide roll

What does M9 paper do?

Detects liquid agents turns red when detected.

What is DFU and what does it do?

Dry filter unit. It detects biological agents

What is JBPS

Joint Biological Protection System

What do IM-265/DT-680 detect?

Radiation

What is IM-265?

Stand alone single display RADIAC meter with an internal Gamma probe. Range 1000 r/h

What is DT-680

Gamma-beta probe connects to the IM-265. When connected the internal gamma probe is turned off and the meter will display the radiation level detected by the probe. Should always be used for radiological surveys. Range 1000 r/h

What is JSLIST?

Joint service lightweight integrated suit technology. It has a nylon-cotton poplin outer shell that is treated to repel water and oil and a chemical protective inner liner containing activated carbon.

What is the shelf life of the JSLIST?

120 days once opened or 6 washes which ever is first

What gas mask do we use?

M50

What cannisters does the M50 gas mask use?

Two m61 cannisters must be changed out one and a time

What precautions should be taken before wearing the M50 mask?

Do not wear contacts, females must remove earrings, hair fasteners buns or braids that could interfere with mask seal. Males must be clean shaven

How often do m61 cannisters need to be changed?

After a single blood agent attack. Or 24 hours of use with other agents. Do not reuse

What does CPS stand for?

Collective protective system

What is the collective protective system?

A system of filters, fans, and airlock providing air to protected spaces. The air in some zones is also pressurized

What is IPDS-LR?

Improved point detection system life cycle replacement.

Control display in DCC

Remote display unit in the bridge

External air sensor unit O5 level port and STBD

What does a nerve agent do?

Disrupt the transmission of nerve impulses and produce systematic effects. meaning it effects the entire body not just exposed areas.

What do blister agents do?

What do blood agents do?

Attack an enzyme that is important to the transfer of oxygen causing cells to be starved for oxygen. The condition is called anoxia. It leads to convulsions and a low pulse rate.

What do choking agents do?

Cause air sacs in the lungs to fill with fluid causing oxygen deffencicy. It causes the victim to feel as if they are drowning. If victim dies it is usually in the first 24 hours

How many nuclear bursts are there?

Five

What are the 5 types of nuclear bursts?

1. High altitude burst

2. Air burst

3. Surface burst

4. Underwater burst

5. Underground burst

Define a high altitude burst

100,000 feet or higher.

Define air burst

Below 100,00 feet fireball interacts with atmosphere but does not touch surface of the earth

Define surface burst

The center of the fireball is either at or slightly above the earth. Can happen on land or water

Define underwater burst

The center of the fireball is below water. May break surface of water depending on size of explosion

Define underground burst

The center of the fireball is below the surface of the ground tho may break the surface. If a ship is close to shoreline may experience some effects

What is NSTM 470

Shipboard bw/cw defense and countermeasures

What is nstm 070

Nuclear defense at sea and radiological recovery of ships after nuclear weapons explosions

What is a persistent agent?

An agent that can cause casualty for 24 hours to several days or weeks

What is a non persistent agent?

An agent that loses its ability to cause casualty after 10 to 15 mins

What is a pathogen?

A disease producing microorganism that directly attacks human tissue and biological processes

What is a toxin?

Poisonous substance that can be produced naturally or synthetically

What is vapor?

The gas state of a substance that is normally liquid or solid at room temperature

What is fallout?

Radiological contamination formed in a nuclear surface burst consisting of radioactive particles and droplets that fall to the surface after the explosion

What is ground zero?

The point of detonation of a nuclear surface burst on land

What is surface zero?

The point of detonation of a nuclear surface burst on water
