|
اللّهُ يَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ
|
[But] Allah mocks them
v15, p1/2 |
|
|
وَيَمُدُّهُمْ فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
|
and prolongs them | in their transgression | [while] they wander blindly
v15, p2/2 |
|
|
أُوْلَـئِكَ الَّذِينَ اشْتَرُوُاْ الضَّلاَلَةَ بِالْهُدَ
|
Those are the ones who | have purchased | error | [in exchange] for guidance
v16, p1/3 |
|
|
فَمَا رَبِحَت تِّجَارَتُهُمْ
|
so their transaction has brought no profit
v16, p2/3 |
|
|
وَمَا كَانُواْ مُهْتَدِين
|
nor were they guided
v16, p3/3 |
|
|
مَثَلُهُمْ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي اسْتَوْقَدَ نَاراً
|
Their example is that of | one who kindled a fire

|
فَلَمَّا أَضَاءتْ مَا حَوْلَهُ
|
but when it illuminated | what was around him

|
|
ذَهَبَ اللّهُ بِنُورِهِمْ
|
Allah took away their light

|
وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ لاَّ يُبْصِرُونَ
|
and left them in darkness | [so] they could not see

|
|
صُمٌّ

Deaf

بُكْمٌ
|
dumb (ie., mute)

|
|
عُمْيٌ
|
blind
v18, p3/4 |
|
|
فَهُمْ لاَ يَرْجِعُون
|
so they will not return [to the right path]
v18, p4/4 |
|
|
أَوْ كَصَيِّبٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ
|
Or [it is] like a rainstorm | from the sky
v19, p1/4 |
|
|
فِيهِ ظُلُمَاتٌ وَرَعْدٌ وَبَرْقٌ
|
within which is darkness | and thunder | and lightning
v19, p2/4 |
|
|
يَجْعَلُونَ أَصْابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِم مِّنَ الصَّوَاعِقِ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ
|
They put their fingers | in their ears | against the thunderclaps in dread of death.
v19, p3/4 |
|
|
واللّهُ مُحِيطٌ بِالْكافِرِينَ
|
But Allah is encompassing | of the disbelievers.
v19, p4/4 |
|
|
يَكَادُ الْبَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ أَبْصَارَهُمْ
|
The lightning almost | snatches away their sight.
v20, p1/5 |
|
|
كُلَّمَا أَضَاء لَهُم مَّشَوْاْ فِيهِ
|
Every time | it lights [the way] for them | they walk therein
v20, p2/5 |
|
|
وَإِذَا أَظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَامُواْ
|
but when | darkness comes | over them | they stand [still]
v20, 3/5 |
|
|
وَلَوْ شَاء اللّهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَارِهِمْ
|
And if Allah had willed | He could have taken away | their hearing | and their sight.
v20, p4/5 |
|
|
إِنَّ اللَّه عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
|
Indeed, Allah | is over | all things | competent.
v20, p5/5 |
|
|
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اعْبُدُواْ رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
|
O mankind | worship your Lord | who created you | and those before you |that you may become righteous
v21 |
|
|
الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الأَرْضَ فِرَاشاً
|
[He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out]
v22, p1/5 |
|
|
وَالسَّمَاء بِنَاء
|
and the sky a ceiling
v22, p2/5 |
|
|
وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً
|
and sent down | from the sky | rain
v22, p3/5 |
|
|
فَأَخْرَجَ بِهِ مِنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ رِزْقاً لَّكُم
|
and brought forth | thereby | fruits | as provision | for you
v22, p4/5 |
|
|
فَلاَ تَجْعَلُواْ لِلّهِ أَندَاداً وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُون
|
So do not attribute to | Allah equals | while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him].
v22, p5/5 |
|
|
وَإِن كُنتُمْ فِي رَيْبٍ
|
And if you are in doubt
v23, p1/5 |
|
|
مِّمَّا نَزَّلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِنَا
|
about what | We have sent down | upon | Our Servant [Muhammad]
v23, p2/5 |
|
|
فَأْتُواْ بِسُورَةٍ مِّن مِّثْلِهِ
|
then produce | a surah | the like thereof
v23, p3/5 |
|
|
وَادْعُواْ شُهَدَاءكُم مِّن دُونِ اللّهِ
|
and call upon | your witnesses | other than Allah
v23, p4/5 |
|
|
إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
|
if you should be truthful.
v23, p5/5 |
|
|
فَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلُواْ
|
But if you do not
v24, p1/5 |
|
|
وَلَن تَفْعَلُواْ
|
and you will never be able to
v24, p2/5 |
|
|
فَاتَّقُواْ النَّارَ
|
then fear the Fire
v24, p3/5 |
|
|
الَّتِي وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ
|
whose fuel is men and stones
v24, p4/5 |
|
|
أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَافِرِينَ
|
prepared for the disbelievers
v24, p5/5 |
