Can you tell me a little bit about your background, in Public Health?
Yes, I received my bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the university of Georgia and two master’s degrees in Public Health and Social Work with a focus in Global health from Washington University in St. Louis.
From St. Louis, to Africa, how did you end up there?
Well throughout graduate school I worked as a research assistant to a cancer epidemiologist, contributing to the creation and management of an international web-based rare disease registry. I’ve also worked with World Vision’s Health & HIV team in Washington, DC as well as the Himalayan Family Health Care Project in in St. Louis. In terms of my transition to Africa, I was able to collaborate with a network of churches and professionals to design an evaluation platform for a school feeding program in Congo, and traveled to Kinshasa to implement the assessment.
And currently you are doing….?
Currently, I received a one year fellowship with Global Health Corps, a global health non-profit organization in Liasion with Yale university that works to advocate health equity globally. I currently have been posted in Kampala, Uganda to work at Reach Out Mbuya. Now I work in
