“Don’t let your eyes glaze over at this parade of statistics” (5) he states. These statistics startled me into taking this book seriously and considering his ideas that are presented later in the book. Throughout the book, he makes some very interesting and, what I believe to be, valid points. An interesting statement he makes in the beginning is “…global warming is a huge experiment” (13). I could not agree more with this statement, as it explains the fact that we have never seen global warming happen before in our history. However, in this chapter he really focuses on local farming and then onto local energy sources. He highlights the importance of these ideas by saying “Our food supply, in other words – by far the most important thing on earth” (159). This statement drives home the importance of focusing on local farming and energy sources because they greatly impact our food source. I agree with not only this statement but also the idea of focusing on energies and money on local projects. Similarily to chapter three, I agreed with everything that Mckibben said in chapter four because I already understood the importance of focusing on local farming and energy
