More specifically, the Chesapeake Colonies, which consists of the Virginia Colony and the Maryland Colony, were one of the early settlements created in America. In fact, the first establishment in America was the Jamestown settlement which was located in Virginia. Furthermore, many people wonder how it all started, and the answer to that question is that it all started with a petition.…
Throughout the late 16th and into the 17th century, European nations briskly inhabited America. There were many groups sent out to North America at this time. The two main areas were known as the Chesapeake as well as The New England. By the time the 1700s rolled around, these two provinces began to coincide to become one nation despite their differences. The major significant difference in these two areas was the reason pertaining to why the newcomers came to the New World; because of this, the colonies were effected socially, politically, as well as economically.…

The cartoon above shows a snake dissected into eight pieces. Each piece is labeled with the name of one of the colonies. The position of each colony in the pictured snake relates to the geographical position of the colonies along the American coast, with the snakes tail pointing south and the head pointing north.…
“The Pennsylvania Charter of Privileges,” was established in the year 1701 to declare this thoughts on how he can create a colony in Pennsylvania with his own principles. The act was drafted in spite of the religious freedom events taken place in the earlier parts of the eighteenth century in North America, where control of government evolved from total monarchy to localized form of control. William Penn helped establish the first modern American democracy, even stating, “FOR the well governing of this Province and Territories, there shall be an Assembly yearly chosen, by the Freemen thereof, to consist of Four Persons out of each County, of most Note for Virtue, Wisdom and Ability” (Penn, 2). This document happens to be a primary source that…

In the early seventeenth century, the Virginia Company of London was granted a charter for land in the New World, allowing England to stake its claim in the New World. This would sow the seed that would allow the Chesapeake colonies to burgeon. Likewise, in 1620, Pilgrims arrived in New England and formed Plymouth, which paved the path for New England colonies to emerge. Though sprouting at roughly the same time, these two colony groupings were incredibly idiosyncratic in comparison to each other as shown in their social, economic, and religious factors.…

Eventually, developing unity in these colonies became essential to maintaining the thriving English empire in the New World. This solidarity between different colonies was derived from a variety of unique sources. Many individual ideas, legislative acts, and intercolonial alliances played a role in unifying the English settlers.…

When they arrived, the settlers spent time searching for gold instead of making preparations for the winter to come. Once winter did come, the settlers died with diseases as swellings, and fevers.…
