Outcome 1 Understand the legislation and policies that support the human rights ind inclusion of individuals with learning disabilities

1.identify legislation and policies that are designed to promote the human rights, inclusion, equal life chances and citizenship of individuals with learning disabilities
One of the main causes of discrimination is the fear and lack of understanding of others because they are different. In order to prevent discrimination it is important to value people and treat them differently in order to meet their different needs.

Most of the disable people were in institutions and there were abandoned by families. There were denied a normal life, a proper education and in general there were isolated from communities. There used to live in institutions and treated badly.

2 describe how past ways of working may effect present services
The past way of working is now considered wrong and inadequate. Today we have a better understanding of disabled people and their needs. Service for people with learning disabilities changed: there are law and regulation to support equality and inclusion. There are codes of practices and policies to provide equality and help people with learning disabilities with their needs. People with learning disabilities are now represented and good progress are made in all the areas: day to day activities, houses, public transport, friendly facilities, active participation. People with learning disabilities are now equal citizens who have the same rights as any other person.

3 identify some of the key changes in the fallowing areas of lives of individuals who have learning disabilities
-where people live-people with learning disabilities used to live in medical institutions-now there are helped to have an independent live, is a person centered approach.
-daytime activities-with help and support from familiar or care service, people with learning disabilities are now able to make their own choices about what they want
