Morality and Eldercare!
Struggling in home healthcare to take care of a person in their own home who is already set in their ways, such as the elderly, can be very difficult. They can be stubborn and set in their ways. Having a specific patient, that is very set in her ways and is extremely stubborn on a lot of issues, have taken medication refusal to another level. By encouraging the patient and making sure that they know in order to remain at home and not in a nursing home setting it is important that they follow the physicians orders in taking all of their prescribed medications and in some instances the patient will adhere to the request to take and maintain all prescribed medications because they generally wish to remain in their own home and not in a nursing home. The code of ethics then comes in to play. Once code ethics is that the patient has their Rights and Responsibilities Requests in which they can request a copy at any time.
