In present day American society, unhealthy food is often picked over healthy food in general. In fact, with the rise of advertisements and the lower prices of food, people often find it hard to stay away from fast food. Unifications once recorded nearly two thirds of people who do not report daily mental health problems eat fresh fruit or drink fruit juice every day, the other one third eats healthy and has mental health problems. While eating at a fast food place you can imagine the amount of stressors that come along with a typical meal. Foods can be stressors on the body, which can have a negative effect on your mood, while other foods are supporters (Food and Mood, 2015). However, just because one food may not be a supporter for one person does not mean it will not be a supporter for another person. Foods that are types of supporters are ideally fruits and vegetables. Plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains will supply the body of nutrients for both good health and good mood (Gibson, 2015). If a person happens to avoid eating their supporters than they could find themselves coming down with health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, and death.

A common way to solve for many health problems is to eat a healthier diet. Hippocrates once said, “Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food” (Marie, 2008). The meaning to the quote is that a good diet can have the potential to fix anything as if it were medicine.
