In the world of engineering, genome editing is huge and there have been several developments. One of the most popular types of genome editing is a system called clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and also by the name of CRISPR-Cas9. These genetic engineering tools are a fairly new technology and have changed the way genetics are looked at. Modifying DNA has never been made more simple and humans can now genetically change the DNA in plants, humans, and animals. CRISPR-Cas9 is much faster and easier. There are multiple things that can be done with the involvement of Crispr. Scientists can remove malaria from mosquitoes, which solves the issue of people getting fevers from the parasite whom invades a humans red blood cells. This new technology can also eliminate a patient 's cancer, treat muscular dystrophy, and even give pig organs to a human. Crispr can also treat HIV by removing the virus’s DNA from the patient 's genome. The technology can also create super plants, which by definition are heartier crops and are more immune to disease. There have been a few efforts to treat and cure blindness in humans using Crispr, but they have only done the study on mice so far. Overall this technology, Crispr, will be used to genetically modify the human race and improve our species. Crispr will mainly be used to genetically remove disease causing DNA and other harmful viruses. An author writing for MOTHERBOARD, by the name of Steph Yin, states,…
