The American Revolutionary War is probably the greatest underdog story to ever happen in history. A group of soldiers with minimum training taking on one of the most powerful military forces at the time, sounds like a plot to a horrible movie directed by Michael Bay. It took a bunch of great people and determined leaders like George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, The colonist were able to take out the British Empire and gain independence for all.

On Christmas of 1776, Washington had a spark of genius. He decided to sail over the Delaware River and ambush British Troops when they least expected. He and His troops hiked for miles until they were in a prime position to strike. Once they attack, the British Soldiers were so taken aback, the battle only lasted one hour. Later they surrendered and this allowed Washington’s army to capture key points. This gave the much needed morale boost that the American Soldiers needed and showed that they still had some fight
