Kenneth Naes could be considered to be an “All American Boy”. He grew up in __________. He loved just about everything outdoors and for a while was in boy scouts. He attended ________ high school, played sports, and joined the military when he graduated. After the military he had many different jobs that led to many new experiences.
Although, during his time in the military an event called the Civil Rights Movement took place that would change people’s lives forever. Ken wasn’t a man of politics, he focused on his military training.
“He was too busy trying to raise our crazy family” Jennifer (daughter) said sarcastically.
When everyone gathered around the small, square, black and white TV to listen to this man’s speech he was intrigued. This man was Martin Luther King Jr. and he was delivering his “I have a dream speech”. Ken shrugged it off, he thought he was a hypocrite. Telling everyone to change, to better themselves, and accept those of different race. The news media showed MLK as a bad man. He was accused of plagiarism, communism, prostitution, manipulation, affairs, and using unlawful ways to obtain his PhD. Of course Ken trusted the news and believed some of the things he was hearing. There was one incident that occurred with a colored man while he in the military. Ken’s squad was told to get in line to do a task and this man was in front of him.
