. CÓRDOVA, VICENTE (1798–1842). Vicente Córdova, Nacogdoches official during the Mexican period and leader of the Córdova Rebellion, was born in 1798. He was evidently well educated and was among the largest landholders in Nacogdoches in the late Mexican period. He served at various times as alcalde, primary judge, and regidor.…
The Black Death was one of the worst plague in human history. Originated from Southwest Asia, the disease began to spread from 1340s until 1700s. This plague caused approximately 75- 200 million deaths during the 14th century. Most epidemic areas were in Europe during Medieval Europe. It is said that the Black Death was caused by a disease called Yersinia pestis; it can be founded on rodents, and it was spread by Fleas.…
During the 16th century in Germany the peasants began to feel and notice the unfair treatment from all non-peasants. They became so frustrated with their unfair treatment that they began to form groups and revolt against the upper classes of Germany. If the German authorities were not so greedy they could have ended the peasant results with no trouble at all but instead they were greedy and the peasants took advantage. There were many causes that lead to the peasant revolts in Germany. One being that the peasants of Wurzburg believed that there should be equality between everyone (doc. 8).…
During the two decades leading up to the American Revolutionary War the British government instituted a fair amount of policies concerning the their North American colonies. Almost all of these incited colonial resentment, whether in the form of sabotage, violence, or American committees. William Pitt’s intervention in the French and Indian War in 1757 caused the first experience of Anglo-American tensions. The colonial governments thought of themselves as largely independent prior to the war, but still swore fealty to the British Crown. This was only a precursor to the attitudes the American colonies would have of the British government, especially after the 1760 succession of King George III of Great Britain.…
The air choked with the stench of disease. The landscape, shriveled and fallow. A syrupy silence hangs over the land. It is 1348; the Black Death is here. Scampering up a mooring rope and into a trade vessel, a harbor rat carries a deadly passenger, the Yersinia pestis.…
These two rebellions are big parts of Canada as without them our government and provinces would have been shaped different. Both rebellions made a lot of people lose their lives and lots of houses and properties destroyed. While there was mostly success in the upper and lower rebellion, the red River and the the North-west rebellion did not favour much towards them as most of their land was seized. The two Rebellions had their differences but they were a lot alike.…
The Bubonic Plaque has a momentous place in history and in modern society. Prior to the Black Death Europe had begun to experience troubles. Europe had sustained bad weather for quite some time, which had begun to affect food resources and the economy. Seven years after, the Bubonic Plaque took over Europe and millions of lives were lost. “The year 1351 marked the last major outbreak of the Black Death, although local epidemics of the plague continued to occur in various locations throughout the world for the next several hundred years.…
According to history.com, “The Black Death arrived in Europe by sea in October 1347 when 12 Genoese trading ships docked at the Sicilian port of Messina after a long journey through the Black Sea.” Many people died along the way on this journey, and the ones who survived were very sick. The people that survived the journey were covered in strange black boils that leaked blood and pus. These odd, dangerous, black boils gave way to the name “the black death.” After the boils oozed, many symptoms such as fevers, vomiting, diarrhea and eventually death followed.…
During the 14th century, around 75 to 200 million people died because of the disease known as the Black Plague. These numbers show that around a third of Europe’s population was completely wiped out. Many terrible changes occurred including the rich and the poor going against each other, blaming one another for causing this horrific disease. The Black Plague was the worst epidemic that has ever been recorded in the world’s history because of the disease’s ability to spread rapidly, the terrible process of infection, and as well as the long term effects that it had on Europe.…
The rebellions in the British North American colonies against new acts after the French and Indian War are the events that interest me most. The French and Indian War devastated the government and economic relations between Britain and colonists. Britain passed The Tea Act and The Intolerable Acts in the colonies in which the colonists did not react well to. This lead to many protests, rebellions, and attacks on the British, but they could not come to an agreement. Eventually, the colonists fully revolted against the British government, leading to the American Revolution.…
How does anarchy cause or create the evolution of rebellion? People can be provoked by anything to make them want to start rioting and protesting. In society if an action or law causes many people to become upset, they may act out in a violent way to prove a point or get something changed so that everyone is content. In the 1760s to late 1770s, Great Britain and colonists had many disagreements due to corrupt leaders and strong military forces. Colonists were treated very poorly and unfairly, so they rebelled to gain independence from Great Britain.…
On March 22nd 2016, an outbreak of the deadly bubonic plague struck the Earth once again, wiping out nearly the entire population. The bubonic plague, “is a lethal infection of rats that is spread to humans via the rat flea when environmental and other conditions are suitable” (Scott, et al. 47). Also known as the “Black Death,” the plague ravaged humanity once before, during the Middle Ages. Now it has returned once again, bringing with it an even greater havoc than the first time. The only ones to survive this horrible catastrophe were four people named Dr. D, Mr. N, Mrs. C, and…
It all starts with history. Knowledge is a threat to stability and maintenance of a totalitarian society. The actual knowledge that would pose a threat to the society is the individual thought of rebellion. As stated previously, one cannot rebel if they don’t know what rebellion is, or how to put a rebellion into action. This is why history is controlled in both societies because it would give people the knowledge to rebel after finding out that what its government is doing, and how they are treating their citizens is wrong and unjust.…
7.3A Trace the development of events that led to the Texas Revolution, including the Fredonian Rebellion, the Mier y Terán Report, the Law of April 6, 1830, the Turtle Bayou Resolutions, and the arrest of Stephen F. Austin Lots of important that events led to the Texas Revolution are the Fredonian Rebellion, Mier y Terán Report, the Law of April 6, 1830, fighting at Anahuac, the Turtle Bayou Resolutions, and the arrest of Stephen F. Austin. It all started with the Fredonian Rebellion. Edwards received an empresarial grant from the Mexican Government which granted him the right to settle on a plot of land and then for receiving that land he was to bring settlers to settle there. Once Edwards and the settlers arrived at his designated…
The Red Death Redemption Over the centuries, several fatal diseases have come and gone and left several countries in ruins. Diseases such as leprosy, measles, Ebola, and tuberculosis have wiped out towns in the matters of months. Though, the darkest and most murderous illness came in the 1300s and wiped out twenty-five percent of Europe’s population. That odious sickness was the bubonic plague, also known as the “Red Death”. In the short story, “The Masque of the Red Death”, Edgar Allan Poe utilizes symbols such as the clock, the Red Death, and the seven colored rooms to reveal that no one can escape mortality; they definitely cannot escape the brutal bubonic plague.…
