Although this is an excellent way to start acting on this issue, many of the “Pill seekers from across state lines may prey on neighboring states that do not track who is filling prescriptions for products prone to abuse and recreational use”(Hanson). This act is illegal and you can be severely punished by law if caught doing so. Some officials think that this is the best way to handle this sort of situation, by incarcerating those who are addicts. Others believe that there is enough restriction on pill shopping, so we shouldn’t be worrying about it. Although they would argue that there is already a program enacted to restrict pill shopping that works just fine, they’re lying. The program is not effective what so ever, if it were we would’ve been able to see a decrease in both the pill shopping and overdose count. All this program does is cause problems for everyone, because of it there will be “...a decreased access to care”(Take Care Staff). That will prove to be a problem for patients who aren’t addicts, especially since most cancer patients need these opioids to go about their daily lives. This program will make it difficult for many patients to refill their prescription without being marked
