General Information
The Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) was developed by Leslie C. Morey Ph.D. in 1991 and revised in 2007. It is published through Psychological Assessment Resource and is a multidimensional objective inventory designed to measure psychopathology and treatment planning for various psychopathological conditions. The current PAI form is not a revision of normative data, test form, or interpretative guidelines from the original 1991 edition. The current version reflects the revision and publication of a second edition of the PAI professional manual to describe research related to the instrument since the original publication of the manual in 1991. The cost of the test is 328.00, which includes the manual, two reusable testing books, two administration books, 25 hand scorable answer sheets, 25 adult profile and critical item forms. The test manual alone is $74.00. Online versions are currently not available. This assessment is an objective rather than projective measure and is a personality test. An alternate version for adolescents ages 12-18 years (PAI-A) was created in 2007. This assessment is also a used to assess for borderline personality characteristics. The Personality Assessment Screener, developed in 1997, is a shorter test version, which reveals the likelihood that a clinical disorder will appear in the full test.
