Hercul Piorot was a private and a retired Belgium officer, who boards the Taurus Express Train for a vacation to Istanbul. While a board the train Piorot befriends Mary Debanham and Colonel Arbuthnot. Piorot became suspicious of the two because they acted like strangers, but were too approachable to each other just to be strangers. After the trains Arrival in Istanbul, Piorot checks in to the Tokatlian Hotel, immediately receiving a notice of telegraphs asking him back to London. Ratchett then sat across from him asking him for help because people were giving him death threats. Sadly for Ratchett, Piorot declined the case. The first night on the train, Piorot was suddenly awakened by a cry from Ratchett’s compartment next door. Then he hears the wagon lit conductor come near ratchets and ask what is wrong, then a voice responds in French “It’s nothing I am mistaken.” Piorot couldn’t sleep because he notices an odd silence. After think about the events; Poirot gathers all of the passengers into the dining car and came to a conclusion of two possible ideas. The first idea was that a stranger came in the train and killed Ratchett. The second idea was that all of the passengers aboard the Orient Express were involved with the murder. He then asks the passengers if they all planned on killing Ratchett for revenge of the death of Daisy Armstrong. Mrs. Hubbard then reveals herself as Daisy’s grandmother and admits that the second idea was correct. Poirot ask M. Bouc and Dr. Constantine to tell the police that the first idea was correct to protect the family which they agree
