A great example of fear is in the chapter of Kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope is a chapter about a crew lost in space because they had a ship malfunction. All the men were scared inside but there was one incident where the text states: “Now, as they had discovered the horror, two of the men began to scream. In a nightmare Hollis saw one of them float by, very near, screaming and screaming… He would never stop. He would go on screaming for a million miles… disturbing all of them” (29). From the screaming, everyone began to realize how terrifying their situation really was, how all they can do is fear for they have no control over what happens. Another example of fear shown throughout the book is in the final chapter The Illustrated man. This chapter is about a man who receives real like tattoos and two of them predict the future.
