Ludwig Van Beethoven was one of the greatest musical prodigy’s of Western music who has played a major part in influencing music we listen to today. His music has been played all over the world. Beethoven’s reputation as a composer and pianist is world known buy the numerous orchestral music pieces he composed over the span of his lifetime. Some would argue Beethoven is the greatest composer who ever lived because he was able to convey the beauty of music while personally struggling with imminent deafness.
Although Beethoven’s official birthday was not documented, baptism’s usually occurred the day after a child was born. Basically it states Beethoven was baptized on December 17, 1770. History has accepted his un-official birthday as December 16, 1770. Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany to a modest family. He had only two surviving brothers one was Caspar, born in 1774, and the other one was Johann, born in 1776. Not much is known of his mother; however, Beethoven’s father Johann van Beethoven was a German musician in the court of the Archbishop of Cologne. Beethoven’s father was also musically gifted and played several instruments as well as sang in court. However, he was considered mediocre. Johann was instrumental in molding young Beethoven’s talents.
