I am going to tell you about a remarkable character from a movie in this case study. The movie is titled “Still Alice” her name is Dr. Alice Howland, she is a renowned linguistics professor at Columbia University. Dr. Alice (Julianne Moore), is portrayed in the beginning of the movie as a woman who is living the good life. Alice, is a well-respected college professor married to a successful man and together they have three grown children. Alice Howland is proud of the life she worked so hard to build. However, things changed with Alice’s, cognitive awareness. Alice, symptoms start and she becomes increasingly disoriented and forgetful. Alice, a well-educated, vibrant, and respected woman is now doubting her own thoughts and abilities. She now forgets things. And I am not just talking about the occasional name or date, or misplaced keys, but her class lectures and names of family friends. Alice has forgotten some of her work. In which she is an expert in and all of a sudden things didn’t seem familiar. She, started having a hard time going into the kitchen to make her own food. Some signs of early onset Alzheimer’s According to the Alzheimer’s Association, are; memory loss, difficulty planning and solving problems, difficulty completing familiar tasks, difficulty determining time or place, vision loss, difficulty finding the right words, misplacing items often, difficulty making decisions, withdrawing from work and social events, and experiencing personality and mood changes…
