The Last Slayer By Jasper Fforde Analysis

“The Last Dragonslayer” by Jasper Fforde is a story for kids and adults who like fantasy and mystery. The main message in the text is be yourself. The story takes place in the Kingdom Of Snodd. Tiger asked Jennifer “What really happened to Mr. Zambini? so Jennifer told him the truth about Mr. Zambini saying that one day, Mr. Zambini had no choice but to perform shows for kids, because Kazam was running low on money. One day, while Mr. Zambini was performing, he magically disappeared and he’s been missing ever since. So Jennifer went to check on Wizard Moobin where she meets a Wizard named Stanford who said that he had this feeling where he was supposed to be at Kazam. Jennifer is then called to the castle where she meets the King where she …show more content…
Instead of obeying the King, Jennifer stood her ground. This proves that she doesn’t have to be told what to do even if it is the King telling her what to do, instead she stood her ground and refused the King’s offer, because she is not the person that can be told what to do and be expected to do that. When Jennifer was on the Yogi Baird show, she was supposed to answer calls from callers, but all of the callers were just asking her questions that was about Maltcassion, but Jennifer was quite mad because all they wanted her to do was to kill Maltcassion so that they can take his land. So Jennifer got mad and she yelled at the people and insult about them stating that they were vultures waiting for a zebra to decay, so that they can steal a piece of the zebra. This proves that Jennifer didn't care if she was on t.v or not, she just wanted to have her opinions heard and stop the people from acting of jealousy. Jennifer was also offered anything she wanted from the king, but she had to help him claim the entire dragonland for him, so Jennifer asked the King if she did that will he stop the war, but the King said no matter what, he still wants to have a war with the Duke of Brecon, so Jennifer said no because their is no point of accepting if people are still going to get hurt. This proves that she doesn’t need to trust anyone and that she should go with what she thinks she is being herself because she thought about everyone else before her. This is a good story because it teaches you to not be ashamed to be different, but be yourself and don’t hide it because everyone is different and you don’t have to hide it because what is a world if everyone's the same? It would mean nothing because the world would not be unique. That is why I agree with Jasper Fforde’s main

JAY DEFEO: THE ROSE Jay DeFeo’s The Rose is remarkable. Its dimensions of 10.7’ x 7.7’ x 11” and its weight of 1,850 pounds are unbelievable. The time--eight years--spent on creating this work is extraordinary. In my opinion, this alone merits The Rose’s inclusion in this and all other art history classes.…

In his work A New Species of Trouble: The Human Experience of Modern Disasters, author Kai Erikson describes how a sense of community can arise out of a shared trauma "There is a spiritual kinship there, a sense of identity” (Erikson 231). There are however a “corrosive” effect on the life of everyone in the community and secondhand knowledge of an event will allow the survivor to escape the negative consequences. The victim is left only with a sense of belonging to a triumphant community. This line of thought is more in line with Roman tradition than with the outline provided in Genesis.…

The True Love Have you ever had a true love in your life? Love without benefits, pure love. In the story “The Cranes” by Peter Meinke described the true love between two couples lived their life together and died together, two people who faced all the problems together by their love. The whooping cranes are rare birds. We see the writer comparing the similarity between these two birds and the couple (husband and wife).…

In death of the woods, the old woman was a symbolic vampire. Before we discuss vampires, it might be helpful to know what vampires are. Foster talks about vampires in chapter 3 when he says, “It’s also about things other than literal vampirism: selfishness, exploitation, a refusal to respect the autonomy of other people, just for starters.” In this paragraph, I will show that the old woman did all three. First, the woman refused to respect the autonomy of another organism.…

People will do anything to win an argument. Ripping apart an argument trying to make the other person feel bad will cause tempers to flare. In her article “The Triumph of the Yell” written by Deborah Tannen, she talked about how almost everything is being argued and she is blaming journalists and politicians for feeding the flame of public arguments. In the article, Tannen talked a lot about a “culture of critique”.…

Jennifer is an 18, almost 19, year old lady. She has had any easy life so far, until she was kidnapped by Prince Darrius. She, the narrator of the story, tells us about her adventure in the palace with Prince Darrius and a couple of her friends. Considering her snarky comments along with her talking back, attitudes, as well as ‘bipolar’ emotions, this makes me believe that she can pass as a real teenager/young adult. In Prince Darrius, by CSW1995 (on Wattpad), Jennifer is part of a prophecy.…

An English author and illustrator of children’s picture books, Emily Gravett, brings a fresh outlook to the children’s books where she won Kate Greenway Medal and the Nestle Children’s Book Prize Bronze Award for Wolves and Little Mouse’s Big Book of Fears, Book Trust (2015). Again! is another brilliant of Gravett. A little green dragon wants his mother to read a bedtime story of a bright angry red dragon name Cedric who causes havoc every night, repeatedly that it sends her to fall asleep before he does. Cleverly, Gravett builds unexpected insight as to what Tunnell (2008) describes that good story sometimes involve small surprises. The unexpected insight simply brings amazement to the readers where the little dragon has burnt a hole through…

Extra credit response #1 Out of the list of movies that was available to watch, I chose “Embrace of the Serpent” out of complete curiosity. The movie was quite unique I would have to say. The plot was about an Indian man named Karamakate who was the last shaman that survived from his tribe. His mission was to travel two scientists to find a sacred plant called Yakruna. Both these missions occurred at two different periods in Karmakate’s life and both men were out to find it out of selfish ambition.…

Tobias Wolff’s “The Liar” from his collection of short stories entitled Our Story Begins tells the story of James, a teenage pathological liar who, after the death of his father, begins to fabricate gruesome stories about his life. James’ mother, Margaret, a devout Christian who is disturbed by her son’s constant lying, relies on the assistance of both God and the family physician to help “cure” him. Wolff structures this story tactfully, revealing significant information in a way that seems natural and deliberate. He drops the reader into the story with very little background information about the characters, gradually revealing key information about their pre-existing lives as the story progresses. Through the use of small details, Wolff…

“The Last of Hanak’o” by Ch’oe Yun and “From Powder to Powder” by Kim Hun are framed by the respective male protagonists’ narration. Here, the narration becomes the male gaze, which could be translated as a patriarchal view of the world, or patriarchal society. Both short stories heavily include descriptions of female characters that are provided by the male protagonists. As a result, the reader’s knowledge of the female character is restricted because it is only through the protagonist’s perspective. Thus, while any information is limited, it is more importantly, biased.…

The novel is about the agony of a wife who is the victim of marital rape; and the plight of women raped outside marriage, who would rather suffer in silence in the name of family honour. A MATTER OF TIME portrays a woman who is more mature and dignified than her predecessors. When others cannot think of themselves outside the familial bond, she, finding herself in, is unperturbed.
