Even after the rights were promoted, there are still millions of woman around the world who continue to experience discrimination because they are women such as, there are laws that prohibit women from equal access to land or property; there are also economic and social discrimination that resulted in poor choices made by women making them vulnerable to trafficking; 30% of women globally were affected by the gender based violence. The women rights defenders are not accepted by their communities and seen as threat to religion and culture. One of the best Quranic verse to describe women’s right in Islam is “There is no compulsion in religion.”(2:256) From this verse it shows that it is up to the women themselves to choose what they want to do and accept as a religious obligation.
