Both articles recongnied Compstat as a breakthrough for police departments to bring down crime. Eterno states, In New York City dream or nightmare points out Compstat was designed as an innovation esstntially to fix what Bratton felt was a dysfunction organization that is the NYPD” (220). Futhermore, both articles addresses the importance of high ranking officials reporting to Compstat meetings to discuss the crime control in their districts. Both articles reaches the conclusion in their articles that agencies mimicking the Compstat process do so because of the NYPD’s crime reduction publicity.
