Thomas Jefferson once said that “We hold truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” In other words, Thomas Jefferson declared that all men are created equal, and that these rights given to us may never be taken away. This leads into the start of American history to which it is now today. Under the reign of the British, disagreements between Americans and British led to war. Americans were not satisfied with British taxing everyone using their authority to make Americans pay for military use. With no actual representation within the Parliament, taxation angered and outraged many groups of Americans as well as other states. Taxation without representation triggered the declaration of Americans from Britain; therefore the creation of a democratic government was formed while excluding slavery from gaining their rights. Since the main cause of separation from Britain was the unfair taxation without representation, Britain imposed tax on food products, paper, and issued all people of Britain, including Americans, to housed soldiers in order to guarantee the protection of the people as well as paying for military debts from previous wars. This was known as the Sugar Act, Stamp Act, Currency Act, and Quartering Act. Due to all the taxes requested from Americans, many protested and boycotted stating that Americans were not part…
