Discrimination can be defined as the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things. A group of people who certainly feel the wrath of discrimination are the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual community. The oppression and unequal treatment that they have struggled with over the years has negatively impacted their well-being. The LGB community is left with, feelings of anxiety, depression, disorders related to substance abuse, and other more severe mental disorders. A 2010 study The Impact of Institutional Discrimination on Psychiatric Disorders in Lesbians Gays and Bisexual Population: A Prospective Study was conducted to show the relationship between states that had bans on LGB rights, and the amounts of psychiatric morbidity that is present in these people. A major question is whether or not the article correctly laid out the study, and if the findings were accurate.
