The Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA)

The Agricultural Adjustment Act, or the AAA, was created to reduce the surplus of crops and farming livestock, which would effectively increase the value of these products and crops. Farmers who volunteered to decrease the acreage of crops such as wheat, cotton, field corn, hogs, rice, tobacco, and milk would receive subsidies. The AAA intended to help farmers who were in financial decline and had produced too many goods. Because overproduction lead to low prices, farmers were not making enough money to support themselves. However, after the Agricultural Adjustment Act and other farm programs restored farmers’ power, the income of farmers increased by fifty percent. The AAA provided relief, recovery, and reform to the American people by administering
