Taking African American history as well as African American philosophy was able to give me a better insight into the lives of the African American Communities back during slavery until now. What I realized that the answer to my question is that black women and America in general have adopted the strong black women myth. I call it a myth because everyone believes in it, but it isn’t true. I read an article called we are all not strong black women by Rania Johnson, in this article she talks about everyone perceives us as being these strong black women and we should wear it with honor, but what people realize is that the reason we are so strong because we have to be not because we want to be. Black women have been through the most throughout Americas history, they had to watch their children and husbands beat and killed in front of them, their bodies were taken against their will by white men because they were deemed exotic, when they finally thought they could take a break drugs, women of different races, and prison started to take the black men out of the households leaving black women to take care of the households while also fearing that their sons will turn out like their fathers and their daughters will grow up hating men because of their fathers not being in their lives. I feel that two main reasons why the thought processes of these 3 generations have changed over time is because one America has changed over the years letting women have more of the rights that they deserve and instead of letting it slip pass them they took full advantage of it. The second thing is because of the low amount of black men in their children lives creating years of women having to support their families as well as work in a society that still thinks lowly of them and years of children growing up in a broken
