Once they got to a cul-de-sac, the officer pointed a gun at Prince, without showing his badge. Prince got into his car and rammed the undercover officer. The officer killed him. Ta-Nehisi talks about how he pictures himself tin the situation. He would not have trusted the officer because that’s hard to do when the officer was dressed as a criminal yet he didn’t show his badge. Anybody would have been afraid; Princes reaction was justified. This was a senseless murder much like the ones all over the news today. Ta-Nehisi was overcome with thoughts of Princes Mom. He could not fathom how she could be living with herself after her sons murder. He decided to give her a visit. Dr. Jones, a radiologist welcomed him. People are separated this way. Furthermore, Ta-Nehisi is reminded of his grandmother when speaking to Dr. Jones. Something that stood out to me was how he said that she got herself out of the projects and intro homeownership. I am someone who lives in the projects and there is a burning desire in me to get out. I want to be successful and I know it was very hard for his grandmother, but she was able to move past doubts and power through in her goals. I aspire to be like people like her. Dr. Jones also had a desire to work hard because she remembered making a pact with a friend, they both wanted to be doctors. Now when she was in highschool she was a start, at first she fought with people who insulted her, but then she became president. However, when she ws out on the field she was cheered on by students, but the black students on the other team were called niggers. Dr. Jones moves on to talk about her successes she went to school, served in the navy and became a radiologist. She moves on to speak about her son whom she called Rocky.
