Understand The Importance Of Personal Information On Health And Safety Research

Children need to learn that they have the power to protect themselves. It is important that children are aware of the dangers around them and that they have the tools to make the correct decision to keep them safe. Within a school children can be taught about safety strategies. Talking in a group about situations they may find themselves in and how they would react will allow children to develop their own strategies for safety. These safety strategies need to be age related. Safety issues such as road safety, the dangers of some adults, social media and alcohol and drugs should be introduced at appropriate times in a childâ€TMs life. Children need to take challenging risks. This develops confidence and allows children to make decisions about their own safety. Schools and youth groups can provide this type of risk in a controlled environment. Children need to be confident and have good self esteem. They should know they are important and be able to think for themselves. If their safety is in doubt they should be self assured that they can do the correct thing. …show more content…
E safety policy and guidelines explain how the school will keep pupils safe whilst in their care. The guidelines describe how to educate pupils on safe use of the internet and mobile phones at age appropriate times.
Social media
Children are taught that not every one on social media are who they say they are. Personal information should not be given out freely. Especially information that identifies them or reveals their location. If a child is asked for this information an adult should be told. They are advised never to arrange meetings with unknown friends on social media. The importance of security and passwords are highlighted and the need to deny unknown individuals. Children are taught that if they are unsure or concerned about a chat room to tell an adult.
