Bipolar disorder is something that should be taken serious. It is not known what really causes someone to become bipolar but it should still be taken very serious. Without treatment you can have a relapse of this disorder and it can get worse (WebMd, 2015). The best way to try and take care of this is to get professional help and to get the proper treatment necessary to help coupe with bipolar. Some people believe that if they do seek treatment, then they are crazy if they do get diagnosed as being bipolar. This disorder does not make someone crazy, you are doing the right thing by getting help. According to WebMD Bipolar disorder was formerly called manic depression. According to J. Sloan Manning (2015) Bipolar disorder is more than a disturbance of affect and mood (p. S10). Bipolar is a mood disorder that can take the shape of either someone that is overly happy and excited and has all the energy in the world to the complete opposite. Someone that is experiencing the depressive side of this disorder will look like someone that has no energy whatsoever and wants to be left alone and does not want to do anything. This does not mean that this person necessarily hates the world. Their brain is just not wired correctly and things are not processed as they should be all the time. When first being diagnosed with this disorder, it can be missed diagnosed since the side that does normally stand out the most is the depressive side (WebMD, 2015).
