Social responsibility is the obligation that a company owes society and plays an important role in how the company is regarded in a community. It also extends beyond the actions within a company, and includes activities that impact the environment where the company conducts its operations. Social responsibility can be characterized by charitable donations, volunteering time and energy, environmental sustainability, or leadership of various campaigns that embody social responsibility. Ford Motor Company has stumbled in the past, but has mostly turned around its operations by making more ethically sound decisions.
The aforementioned Ford Pinto fiasco happened as a result of Ford Motor Company attempting to cut corners within its manufacturing process.
