What is progressivism ? Progressivism is support for or advocacy of social reform. The Progressive Era took place from the 1890’s to 1920’s across the United States. The primary goal of the movement was to eliminate corruption in government. By examining this Era it is clear that it brought economic, political, social and moral industrial changes. Firstly, let’s look at the economic changes the progressive Era brought. The economy was drastically changing during this era. Due to these changes, large corporations and trusts were formed and gained significant power. These corporations and trust were able to become monopolies, allowing them to control the industry and eliminating competition. Consumers were substantially affected by these changes
