Gender Differences Between Men And Women

Humans have been around for thousands of years, and we are all very diverse in our cultures, races, traditions, and religions. However we all have one obvious distinction amongst all of us, and that is men and women. While there are many similarities between men and women, there are also definitive differences between us. Though some are deep and interesting, and become the topic of many researchers to debate, others are more amusing and can be clearly observed by nearly anyone. Truly, there are fundamental contrasts that distinguish men and women from each other. The first interesting contrast between men and women is their choice of movies. While there is always some exception, it seems that most women choose movies relating to love stories and romance, while men tend to choose movies relating to action and heroism. One example of this difference between men and women took place in my family not long ago. On a Friday night our family decided to enjoy the evening by popping some buttery popcorn on the stove and plopping down in the living room to watch a movie. My mother and sister were bent on watching either Dear John or The Fault in Our Stars. This was when war broke out. With the possibility of two hours of agony, my father, my brother, and I groaned with dread. We contested this by suggesting that we watch either Terminator 2 or X-men. Whether it be pertaining to personal preference, communication, or emotion the contrasts between men and women are clear. However these differences are certainly not disadvantages to either sex, because differences between the men and women complement each other. Though our differences may be flustering at times, in the long run they serve the purpose of allowing us to continually identify with others and be continually open-minded towards the other sex’s different, yet equal, way of
