When most people think of individuals that have been labeled sex offenders in their area, there is not much remorse or empathy felt toward them. All sex offenders are characterized as child molesting sex enthusiasts when in reality, that’s not always factual. When a person commits a crime qualifying them as a federal sex offender, their life has changed forever in the worst way. The magnitude of the crime is almost always irrelevant and treatment is level in the eyes of the law. Every sex offender is required by law to register on an online database for sex offenders as noted by the Notification Act, and possibly undergo psychological and physical treatment methods as well as probation upon their release. After serving their justified time in prison, former sex offenders are subjected to unrealistic living conditions and are revoked rights as citizens in their community. Upon becoming a sex offender, registration is expected immediately. Sex offender registration is a system for monitoring and tracking sex offenders following their release into the community. The registration provides important information about convicted sex offenders to local and federal authorities and the public, such as offender 's name, current location, and past offenses. It is important for public safety purposes; however the cost of registering is detrimental to those who do.
