Through recent months, communities for several different situations have brought down police officers. Some that have led to fatality and some that have left people wounded. Police officers should be looked at as a source of help, not an enemy. Most of the time the officer’s choice of action is based on his or her discretion, but sometimes can be too much action shown. There have been several police altercations in the recent months, including; shooting of teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, MI, New York police officer’s Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu was assassinated by a gunman, and state police officer Corporal Bryon Dickson and Alex Douglass who were shot by a gunman in Pennsylvania. In the most recent months the biggest controversial problem that has occurred, is the shooting of teenager Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, MI. Before any altercations happened, Michael Brown was spotted stealing items from a local convenience store (Buchanan, Fessenden, Lai, Park, Parlapiano, Tse, Wallace, Watkins, & Yourish, 2014). When Officer Darren Wilson started approaching Brown in his police cruiser, Brown went walking towards to Wilson’s window when the altercation between the two happened (Buchanan et al., 2014).
