Shakespeare has a great deal of meaning in his sonnets for his lover. In sonnet 9 Shakespeare uses figurative language to improve the reader's understanding of what his meanings are and to get a better understanding of them. In line 3 he uses onomatopoeia to express his emotions. He said “Ah!” To show us his reaction of what would happen if he were to die while being with his lover. Shakespeare also used a simile in his next line, line 4. Shakespeare stated “The world will wail thee like a makeless wife”, Shakespeare is trying to say that the world will grieve for her because she's a makeless wife, a single wife.
