Rosa Parks was born on 4th February 1913, in a city called Tuskegee, Alabama, United states. Mrs Parks got married at the age of 20 to a man named Raymond Parks. Rosa Parks fought for civil rights. A huge act she did was the Montgomery bus boycott where she was one of the people that lead it. She was also involved in a bus argument which led her to jail and also the boycott later.
Early life/What motivated her:
When Rosa Parks was younger she always felt bad about the way Black Americans were treated. She always wanted to be free and have the same rights as other people. At that time there were places where coloured people couldn't go which was not acceptable to Rosa Parks. She said in an interview that she wasn’t scared of getting arrested she said it was worth the consequences. In the same interview Rosa Parks said that her mother believed in freedom and equality for people.
The bus argument
On December 1st 1955, Rosa Parks had just finished up at work and was really tired, she caught a bus to go home. Instead of the courts fighting and citizens just waiting and bearing the consequences, people put the act of changing civil rights into their own hands, by protesting and a lot of other thing that changed the civil rights. Even that still not all rights are equal in many countries but still some have changed a lot. a quote by Rosa Parks said “Racism is still with us.
