In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, Reverend Hale tells Elizabeth Proctor that, “No principle, however glorious, is worth dying for.” Hale states that it is better to lie than to die for something you believe in. I strongly disagree with this because I would rather die standing up for something than to lie. Many people stand up for their beliefs and protest in something and I think that is great because it shows their pride. Everyone should be proud in what they believe in. Back when there was racism in the 1960’s, only white people were allowed in buses and Rosa Parks sat inside the bus where white people sat and she was asked to get up and give up her seat.
