In what ways is sex used by Anne and Henry as a weapon in this set of historical events?
During the beginning of Henry VIII reign England was recognized as a Catholic nation with ties that gave tremendous amount of authority to the Pope of Rome, however, Henry VIII abolished those ties and consequently changed the whole country religious foundation for the sole reason that his sexual desires or quest for a male heir conflicted with the Pope. Henry VIII was displeased with his 20 years of marriage to Catherine of Aragon the Spanish Catholic queen because she did not give him what he was desperate for, a male heir. However, Anne Boleyn passion for King Henry VIII might have been a way of using sex as a weapon to achieve her desire to become a noble woman of the highest rank. Anne Boleyn promise to be exactly what he wanted, a devoted wife and to be the one to conceive him with the son he always wanted, when the accusation was put forth she repeatedly claim that she never forgot her devotion: “And to speak a truth, never Prince had Wife more Loyal in all Duty, and in all true Affection, than you have found in Anne Boleyn, with which Name and Place could willingly have contented my self, as if God, and your Grace's Pleasure had been so pleased.” That her devotion, as well as affections to him, were always true. If Anne Boleyn desire for King Henry VIII was only a manipulation, looking at Anne Boleyn past before meeting King Henry VIII provide some new outlook, many historians say she was not the most virtuous or modest person in sexuality, that if her sexual experimentation were made public she would have suffered from a bad name that could have influenced King Henry VIII decision to marry her.
