Racism In Jethro Bunker

In his argument, Jethro Bunker, despicably expresses his feelings towards races, by criticizing them and placing the “whites” as a supreme race over all by claiming that all other races are “deficient” when compared to “the vastly superior white race”. As Canadian author, Pierre Berton, once said, “Racism is a refuge for the ignorant. It seeks to divide and to destroy. It is the enemy of freedom, and deserves to be met head-on and stamped out.” Those who shelter themselves behind the hateful curtains of racism are the ones that suffer the most from it. Or does it? Watson claims that the IQ in Europe is higher than Africa and other undeveloped countries; however, Intelligence Quotient does not make a certain race superior to another. In Robert O. Andreasen’s article, “The Concept of Race in Medicine” he states that “Recent data suggests significant health disparities among races in the United Sates today.” In the text he compares various medicines and their effectiveness to certain races. When comparing the two races, Caucasians and Africans, it seems that Africans have a better Immune system, which clearly rejects Bunker’s idea of whites as being superior. However, it also does not mean that Africans are the superior race. Race cannot be used as a measure of superiority, as it leads to many complications. In the mid-20th century, the “Aryan race” was used to describe people of European and Western Asia descent. As a simple way of identifying a race, no individual during the times found any complications with the name Aryan. Until a couple of years later, the Nazi party took that race and turned it into a weapon. Aryan race was claimed to be the master race as they were much less mixed compared to any other race. But in reality the Aryan race was no better than, Africans, Asians or Indians, they possessed no genetic trait that made them smarter, more agile or stronger. In other words, there is no possible way of telling what race is better than all other, unless humans discover a race in which every individual is more evolved than the common Earthling then there is no way of asserting Bunker’s claim. Furthermore, Bunker describes the various races as if they were colors with whites on one end, blacks on the other and Latinos and Middle Eastern as something in between, but color is not a way of describing
