She inherited her throne from her father Henry VII. She became Queen on her Coronation day of 15 January 1559. Elizabeth I was the long-ruling queen of England, governing with relative stability and prosperity for 44 years. Elizabeth I, perhaps England's most famous Queen, grew up in a hard sometimes difficult circumstance. Becoming Queen at 26, she was loved by England from day one.
Queen Elizabeth in government, was more moderate than her father and half-siblings had been. Elizabeth's reign is known as the Elizabethan era. Towards the end of her reign, a series of economic and military problems harmed her popularity. Elizabeth was one of the best educated women of her generation.
