Queen Elizabeth I Research Paper

Queen Elizabeth I was the Tudor Queen, she was born to Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII. King Henry defied the Papacy and the Holy Roman Empire in order for him to marry Anne. Elizabeth was the only child of the two. Henry later had Anne beheaded.
Elizabeth became queen at the age of twenty-five. She was considered an illegitimate by most Europeans. When she took control of the county it was bankrupt and destroyed by religious turmoil. She ruled for nearly half a century alone. So my impression of Queen Elizabeth I is a powerful woman that did an amazing job, she ruled and did a wonderful job even when everyone around her thought she would fail miserably. She is a survivor.

Many powerful women of the Middle Ages ruled as monarchs or queens to help to help the king and other nobility with conflict and provide an heir to the throne. Eleanor of Aquitaine shows a great example as she became wealthy at the age of fifteen, and soon after became the queen of France and queen of England. She accompanied kings as they conquered great historical lands and bore many children to continue their legacy. Eleanor of Aquitaine held great responsibility at a young age, giving her the experience to rule with an iron fist. She became her father’s heir presumably at the age of five and she inherited her father’s title and extensive lands upon his death when she was fifteen, making her duchess of Aquitaine and one of the most powerful…

In Document 4, John Aylmer states that Elizabeth I is a "mixed ruler" which is a ruler that shares power with Parliament. This causes some people of England to be satisfied and "okay" with Elizabeth I as their queen because they have no reason to fear her due to her limited power. John Aylmer is also only a friend of one of Elizabeth I's workers, specifically a tutor (so s/he is educated), so he can be trusted because he isn't a noble, or biased towards Elizabeth I since he doesn't work for her. He also states that "it is not so dangerous" for a female ruler to rule England. This further shows that people are okay with a female ruler if there is another person or group of people in power.…

The Influence of Views of Gender of the 16th Century over Elizabeth I’s Rule Elizabeth I, who ruled from 1558-1603, was a powerful and wise female ruler who had several successes in unifying and developing England. She was the daughter of Henry VIII, who had wanted a male heir for all of his life, and was greatly displeased when he had a daughter. Women were considered fragile and incompetent to do anything, which made them quite useless in 16th century European society, and made people wonder if they were fit to rule. Deeply influenced by the misogyny and critiques against a female ruler because of their assumed weak and feebleness, Elizabeth I diligently presented herself as a valuable and strong Queen and she pushed aside any person who…
